A bill to amend the Energy Policy and Conservation Act to require the Secretary of Energy to publish a final rule that establishes a uniform efficiency descriptor and accompanying test methods for covered water heaters, and for other purposes.
Comment: This is another example of meaningless legislation. Why does the federal government regulate water heaters in the first place?
Having industry and product standards is the purview of the private sector. The days of the US Government being involved in consumer protection have long since passed, and I think we can rightly say the feds have failed miserably on almost every front prior. This bill should be opposed.
