J.D. Hayworth, a former congressman and conservative AM radio host, nearly lost his voice this week delivering fiery attacks on John McCain, the Republican 2008 presidential nominee whom Hayworth accuses of betraying his party and getting too cozy with East Coast liberals. The four-term senator, says Hayworth, “is not the John McCain we knew.’’
Hayworth’s assault from the right in a GOP primary has forced McCain to launch an early, aggressive defense of his seat. And today, McCain will attempt to enhance his conservative bona fides by hosting the party’s new darling, US Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts, on an Arizona campaign swing.
Brown is planning to accompany McCain at a campaign rally and fund-raiser in Phoenix today, followed tomorrow by a trip to Tucson, where they will attend a University of Arizona Wildcats basketball game. ...
Comment: If the 17th Amendment was repealed there would be absolutely no need for Brown to do anything but represent Massachusetts. There would be no need to pay back McCain for his help in Brown's election.
And for McCain; the rest of the country would not have to endure weeks of news reports on the major news television shows detailing his descent as if it was the end of the world for all those in Washington that live and breath statism, because a simple vote would take place in the Arizona Senate determining who would represent Arizona in the US Senate, and without much fanfare and big money from special interest groups, it would all be over.

Q: Who represents Arizona today?
A: no one.
The state (like all of them) has no representation, as it was taken away with the 17th Amendment, and therefore there are no teeth in the 10th Amendment. You can pass all the 'feel good' reaffirmation you like, it won't stop the federal government from stealing what should have been the states' authority. Nothing is in place to prevent it. If you don't like that, if you want things to get better (even if all you want is for things to stop getting worse) then you have to repeal the 17th. Nothing good can ever happen in this country until the states are allies of the people, in the struggle against runaway federal government.
NONE of the good things being proposed by good people will ever help until the states are back in the fight on our side.
