Utah to Consider a “Soft Repeal” of the 17th Amendment

Legislature tries to grab more power - By Glen Warchol

Another Senate measure is billed as a "soft repeal" of the 17th Amendment that transferred the selection of U.S. senators from the state legislatures to a popular vote.
Sponsored by Sen. Howard Stephenson, SB156 would give the Legislature's majority party caucuses control over the selection of senate candidates.

Comment: Good luck Utah. This movement has to start in the state general assemblies; after all it was state authority that was thwarted.

`Senate President John Valentine caught the public's attention during the 17th Amendment debate when he said lawmakers don't know better than the voters, but `We know more than the voters do.'''

Yikes! I doubt that that is the best argument to use.
