It dissolved a "union of states" and created a single "state". It literally stole the representation of the states AS states, which was a balance AGAINST the house of "the people"s representatives. States, as States, would instruct their representatives to vote in such a manner as to preserve the states' own authority AGAINST the more flighty 'people' who might want to impose federal authority on other people. In other words, the senate was the ORIGINAL "party of no". The 17th converted the senate to a second, perverted House of Representatives which competes with the legitimate House to see who can spend more of my money buying my vote.Idahosernoreply@blogger.com
