Senate to Vote on Massive UN-Style Give Away

From the American Conservative Union:

"Obama's costly, dangerous and altogether bad bill (S. 2433), which could come up in the Senate any day, is called the Global Poverty Act. It would commit U.S. taxpayers to spend 0.7 percent of our Gross Domestic Product on foreign handouts..."

-Phyllis Schlafly

The United States Senate may vote any day on the stealth imposition of what could amount to an $845 BILLION United Nations style global tax on American citizens?

It's called the Global Poverty Act (S.2433), and it is being sponsored by none other than Senator Barack Obama.

And Schlafly isn't the only one sounding the warning!

Joe Farah, publisher of WorldNetDaily.com said of this treacherous bill:

"Now comes an even grander proposal by Barack Obama. It's called the Global Poverty Act, that would, in the next decade, transfer at least $845 billion of U.S. taxpayer money overseas. Think of Johnson's failed war on poverty going international -- directed not by Americans but by the United Nations."

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media wrote:

"A global tax will clearly be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money."

And there is not a moment to lose because, Senator Joe Biden, the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee just issued a report on the Global Poverty Act and it was placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar on Thursday the 24th.

That means that time is of the essence as this potentially massive surrender of your hard-earned tax dollars to the third world may be close to a vote.

That's why we must act now... BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Use the hyperlink below to go to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Bush and each and every one of the Republican Members of the United States Senate.

Let them know in no uncertain terms that you are watching and you will not tolerate massive United Nations style giveaways that are passed in the dark of night -- or in broad daylight for that matter. Tell them that putting us on the road to give billions to petty tyrants and dictators is NOT a solution to poverty.

This bill can come up for a vote at any time. Demand that our conservative legislators do whatever it takes -- a filibuster if necessary -- to stop this bill dead in its tracks.

The Senate Shell Game...

Advocates of the Global Poverty Act are claiming that it does not really commit the United States to anything... that it won't really cost anything... that it simply requires the President -- in conjunction with the Secretary of State -- to "develop" strategies to alleviate world poverty.

In fact, Biden's report incredulously states, "implementing S. 2433 would cost less than $1 million per year..."

Technically he's correct... after all, it doesn't really cost that much to develop and formulate strategies...

But such a cleverly worded contention begs the question: Why formulate or develop a strategy if there is no intention to follow through on that strategy?

And what would it cost to actually follow through on a strategy to alleviate world poverty?

The Global Poverty Act intentionally gives no specific figures but it does contain clues, and those clues are stated repeatedly in the legislation's reliance on the United Nations Millennium Development Goal.

WorldNetDaily.com quotes Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media as saying:

"The bill defines the term 'Millennium Development Goals' as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration..."

"In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that declaration commits nations to banning 'small arms and light weapons' and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

As for specific figures... WorldNetDaily.com reports:

"Those U.N. protocols would make U.S. law on issues ranging from the 2nd Amendment to energy usage and parental rights all subservient to United Nations whims."

"[T]he legislation, if approved, dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years... would amount to $845 billion 'over and above what the U.S. already spends.'"

"The plan passed the House in 2007 'because most members didn't realize what was in it.' Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require."

And, how would the United States pay for this $845 BILLION commitment? According to Kincaid, who published a report on the legislation; "A global tax will clearly be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money."

And that $845 BILLION global tax is in addition to our nation's current Foreign Aid programs, which, in 2006, cost American taxpayers about $300 BILLION!

Senator Obama's Global Poverty Act has already passed the House (many Members unfortunately voted in favor of it without carefully noting exactly what was in it) and President Bush may very well sign it!

That's why it must be stopped, and it must be stopped NOW!

It Gets Worse!

Here are some of the additional provisions of the Millennium Development Goal:

... a "currency transfer tax," that is, a tax imposed on companies and individuals who must exchange dollars for foreign currency;

... a "tax on the rental value of land and natural resources";

... a "royalty on worldwide fossil energy projection -- oil, natural gas, coal";

... "fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for airplane use of the skies, fees for use of the electromagnetic spectrum, fees on foreign exchange transactions, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels."

... a "standing peace force," meaning a standing United Nations army that might, in time, be large enough to force us to bend to its will;

... a "UN arms register of all small arms and light weapons," the beginning of the end of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution;

... the "eradication of poverty" by the "redistribution [of] wealth and land" -- How do you suppose the United Nations expects to "redistribute" the land and the wealth? And what country do you think the third-world majority will go after first?

... cancellation of "the debts of developing countries,"

... "a fair distribution of the earth's resources."

... and "political control of the global economy."

In other words, it's a blueprint for a world government, owned and operated by the United Nations.

One thing is clear: the Millennium Development Goal is a dagger aimed at the heart of America.

While the Global Poverty Act, as presently championed by its Senate supporters, embraces certain aspects of the Millennium Development Goal, one should wonder if some of our legislators also support land and wealth "redistribution."

We must stop this bill dead in its tracks.

We must stop this subversion NOW! Don't let Senator Obama's Global Poverty Act sneak through the Senate.

Other Appropriate Entities...

Dr. Jeffrey D. Sachs -- a Columbia University economist -- is monitoring the Millennium Development Goal for the United Nations.

In his 2005 report to Kofi Annan -- based on the research of 265 "poverty specialists" -- Sachs criticized the United States for giving only a mere $16.3 billion a year to alleviate global poverty.

He argued that we should spend at least an additional $30 billion a year.

And Sachs has decreed that the only way to force the United States to commit that much money is to IMPOSE A GLOBAL TAX.

Has Senator Obama -- along with the other Senate co-sponsors -- introduced the Global Policy Act at least in partial obedience to Sachs' wishes?

Phyllis Schlafly claims:

"The Global Poverty Act would be a giant step toward the Millennium Goals of global governance and international taxes on Americans. Tell your Senators to kill this un-American bill."

And yes, just in case you think the massive amounts of your tax dollars that were wasted under the United Nation's Oil for Food program were an aberration, and that such a thing could not eventually happen on a more massive scale were the Global Poverty Act to sneak through the Senate, Doug Powers, writing for WorldNetDaily.com made this observation:

"Not long ago, Nigeria's 'anti-corruption commission' -- runner-up in the 'oxymoron of the year' competition, second only to 'U.S. Senate Intelligence' -- found that past rulers of Nigeria have stolen or misused billions of dollars."

"The commission discovered that the amount of money 'missing' adds up to all the Western aid given to Africa in four decades. Obama, Hagel and Cantwell want to throw more at them. Apparently they won't be happy until there are trillions of our tax dollars stolen by crooked leaders and warlords." [Emphasis Mine]

Unfortunately, the Global Poverty Act is still flying under the radar, but not for long.

But there is hope.

WE know, and we can stop this vicious bill -- provided we act RIGHT NOW!

The Double Trouble of Taxation

One Oar in the Water: The Double Trouble of Taxation

Ron Paul's Texas Straight Talk; A Weekly Column

Taxes were on the forefront of many Americans’ minds this week as they scrambled to meet the April 15th deadline to file their returns. Tax policy in this country hurts taxpayers twice – once when they pay taxes, and then when the government spends the money. Americans are sick and tired of the financial burden and the endless forms to fill out. To add insult to injury, after collecting this money the government does some very detrimental things to the economy.

The burden of complying with the income tax is tremendous. Since its inception in 1913, the tax code has gone from 400 pages to over 67,000. The Tax Foundation estimates that around $265 billion dollars and 6 billion hours are spent just on compliance. That expense amounts to about 22 cents of every dollar the IRS collects. Imagine the boon to the economy if we spent that time and money expanding our businesses and creating jobs!

Aside from the direct loss of money and productivity, the funds from the income tax enable the government to do some very destructive things, such as vastly over-regulating economic activity, making it difficult to earn money in the first place. The federal government funds over 50 agencies, departments and commissions that formulate rules and regulations. These bureaucracies operate with little to no oversight from the people or Congress and generate around 4,000 new rules every year and operate at a cost of about 40 billion dollars. There are some 75,000 pages of regulations in the Federal Register that Americans are expected to know and abide by. Complying with these governmental regulations costs American businesses more than one trillion dollars per year, according to a study by Mark Crain for the Small Business Administration. This complicated system drives production to other countries and shrinks our job market here at home.

Big government is destructive when it takes your money and when it spends it. There is no economic benefit to supporting a government sector as massive as ours. In fact, this country thrived for well over 100 years without an income tax. Today, if you took away the income tax, the government would still have revenue from other sources equal to total government spending in 1990, when government was still too big. $1.2 trillion should be more than enough to fund a government operating within its constitutional confines, and that is exactly what we need to get back to.

I have introduced legislation many times to abolish the IRS and the income tax. It is fundamentally un-American to require taxpayers to testify against themselves and be considered guilty until proven innocent. Abolishing the IRS altogether would trigger an avalanche of real growth in the economy.

With these financial hard times only just beginning, this would be the most efficient and logical way to get our economy growing again, and Americans would need not dread the 15th of April every year.

Comment: As a supporter of the FairTax and my research of the tax issue I learned that the income tax was immoral, but lately I have begun to even question a national sales tax. Why do we need to give the national government more money from other revenue streams? As Rep. Paul states, with adjustments, the national government can operate within the amounts of revenue collected from the sources the Constitution mandates. The time has come to put the reins on unlimited taxation and spending, but frankly there are too few in Congress willing to stand up for the American people.

Comment: Repeal of the 16th Amendment must be go hand and hand with the repeal of the 17th Amendment. Do not believe for one moment that these oligarchs will give up the power of taxation. We will only remove the power of taxation when we return the rightful power of the states, and remove it from this small group of people.

Feds Plan to Collect DNA Samples From Everyone They Arrest

One Oar in the Water: Feds Plan to Collect DNA Samples From Everyone They Arrest

From One Oar in the Water:

HT: WL at Columbus Townhall

From FOXNews:

“The government plans to begin collecting DNA samples from anyone arrested by a federal law enforcement agency — a move intended to prevent violent crime but which also is raising concerns about the privacy of innocent people.

“Using authority granted by Congress, the government also plans to collect DNA samples from foreigners who are detained, whether they have been charged or not. The DNA would be collected through a cheek swab, Justice Department spokesman Erik Ablin said Wednesday. That would be a departure from current practice, which limits DNA collection to convicted felons.

“Expanding the DNA database, known as CODIS, raises civil liberties questions about the potential for misuse of such personal information, such as family ties and genetic conditions. Ablin said the DNA collection would be subject to the same privacy laws applied to current DNA sampling. That means none of it would be used for identifying genetic traits, diseases or disorders.

Congress gave the Justice Department the authority to expand DNA collection in two different laws passed in 2005 and 2006. There are dozens of federal law enforcement agencies, ranging from the FBI to the Library of Congress Police. The federal government estimates it makes about 140,000 arrests each year.

Those who support the expanded collection believe that DNA sampling could get violent criminals off the streets and prevent them from committing more crimes.

A Chicago study in 2005 found that 53 murders and rapes could have been prevented if a DNA sample had been collected upon arrest.

“‘Many innocent lives could have been saved had the government began this kind of DNA sampling in the 1990s when the technology to do so first became available,’ Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said. Kyl sponsored the 2005 law that gave the Justice Department this authority.

“Thirteen states have similar laws: Alaska, Arizona, California, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

The new regulation would mean that the federal government could store DNA samples of people who are not guilty of any crime, said Jesselyn McCurdy, legislative counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union.

“‘Now innocent people's DNA will be put into this huge CODIS database, and it will be very difficult for them to get it out if they are not charged or convicted of a crime,’ McCurdy said. If a person is arrested but not convicted, he or she can ask the Justice Department to destroy the sample.

The Homeland Security Department — the federal agency charged with policing immigration — supports the new rule. ‘DNA is a proven law-enforcement tool,’ DHS spokesman Russ Knocke said. The rule would not allow for DNA samples to be collected from immigrants who are legally in the United States or those being processed for admission, unless the person was arrested.

Comment: I am amazed at how our civil liberties are being destroyed almost weekly by Congress and this President.

I hope you blind sheep in the GOP, you Republicans, wake the hell up and realize what is going on and what is at stake!!!! To me it is quite simple; this is clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment.

I don’t need a lawyer to tell me this is a violation of my constitutional rights, and I will not rationalize it away because “we are at war” with 100 Muslims. We should never ever give up our freedom, liberties, and rights because of terrorism. That is insane. Quite frankly, I can see no situation that I would hand over my God given rights to the government.

We should be screaming from every roof top. We should be protesting at every federal building across this country, for our RIGHTS are being taken away by these oligarchs! Do you not understand that this is precisely what the founding fathers feared? This is serfdom; this is a police state, make no mistake about.

Comment: Oligarchs is correct; there is no one left but a hand full in DC looking out for our welfare and supporting the US Constitution. Dark days indeed.

Fact or Fiction: North American Union

One Oar in the Water: Fact or Fiction: North American Union

From One Oar in the Water:

Folks from FOXNews to our congressional members make light of the idea that there is a conspiracy afoot to join the countries of Mexico, United States, and Canada into one union. But as one peels back the layers of the onion, we find that the march toward a North American Union is in fact occurring as this article by Phyllis Schlafly reveals.

Comment: Our sovereignty is and has been under assault for over hundred years. Whether it is the League of Nations, United Nations, the World Bank, or this North American Union, each of the these agreements cost us our rights, liberty, and prosperity. But sad as it is, there is no one except a few in Congress willing to defend this country; both parties are selling this country down the road.

Comment: There is little doubt if we had representatives of the “States” in the US Senate, rather than the oligarchs that do the bidding of the elites, our sovereignty would not be in peril. Until we admit that we have to change the situation, nothing will change. It’s time to turn back the measures the elites imposed and repeal the 17th Amendment.

We the Morons that Keep Electing the Morons that Raise Our Taxes

Well folks, today is the day in which our socialist government, yes our government is socialist when it enslaves us through labor, tells us we have to hand over our hard earned labor income. Yep, and while there is a lot to blame to spread around, the fingers of blame should be squarely pointed at us, the America people.

Yep because we are so stupid and gullible, so sinful, yes sinful, committing the sin of envy against those that have more, we turned over authority to tax all citizens with unlimited means, and at the end of a gun barrel, so an un-virtuous oligarchy has complete control over our income. And we continue to elect these people. We are stupid people.

Wake up folks; we never had an income tax in US History until 1913. If this country is going to squeak through this apparent economic descent we have to repeal the 16th Amendment. If this country is going to preserve freedom and liberty we have to repeal the 16th Amendment.

We can’t stop this tyranny unless we stop voting for the politicians that continue to tax and enslave us. We must stop voting for the same people.

FSK's Guide to Reality: Which is Worse: The 16th or 17th Amendment?

HT: Mike P. from Repeal the 17th Amendment Discussion Board

FSK's Guide to Reality: Which is Worse: The 16th or 17th Amendment?

"Whichever amendment leads to the most rapid destruction of government is the best. Both the 16th and 17th amendments enabled the Federal government to grow in power to the point where it might collapse under its own incompetence."

Comment: I tend to think it is the 17th; folks across the country are correctly realizing the burden of high taxation, but behind our backs the Senate attacks our freedoms. They always lower the tax rate, but we never get out rights back. Yep, it’s the 17th.

God bless you Mr. Heston!

HT: USCCA

“For the next six months, Al Gore is going to smear you as the enemy. He will slander you as gun-toting, knuckle-dragging, bloodthirsty maniacs who stand in the way of a safer America. Will you remain silent? I will not remain silent. If we are going to stop this, then it is vital to every law-abiding gun owner in America to register to vote and show up at the polls on election day.

As we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those words again for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Mr. Gore: ‘From my cold, dead hands!’ ”

The Boycott Begins: Not One Red Cent!

I have to step aside from the intent of this weblog for a moment. I blog with a group of bloggers from Ohio and wanted to highlight a new weblog that will act as a focal point to boycott the Ohio Republican Party, called Not One Red Cent!

For a number of years folks have watched our great State of Ohio sinking deeper and deeper into a seemingly endless depression. But the crazy aspect has been that the Ohio Republican Party has been leading us to this misery.

Well a few of us got together and have started a web boycott called Not One Red Cent! We are boycotting the ORP’s donation campaign called “88 in 08” by asking the right side of Ohio to boycott the ORP and withhold your donations until republican ideals return to Ohio.

Check out the weblog site here.

Traficant got it; The Federal Reserve is a Travesty

HT: Mike P. from Repeal the 17th Amendment Discussion Board

The weblog Hayhurst for America has a very interesting posting from our, Ohio, James Traficant addressing the House in 1993 detailing the bankruptcy of the United States. Traficant’s knowledge of our financial banking history is first rate and he clearly saw that we were in dire straits.

“The receivers of the United States Bankruptcy are the International Bankers, via the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. All United States Offices, Officials, and Departments are now operating within a de facto status in name only under Emergency War Powers. With the Constitutional Republican form of Government now dissolved, the receivers of the Bankruptcy have adopted a new form of government for the United States. This new form of government is known as a Democracy, being an established Socialist/Communist order under a new governor for America. This act was instituted and established by transferring and/or placing the Office of the Secretary of Treasury to that of the Governor of the International Monetary Fund. Public Law 94-564, page 8, Section H.R. 13955 reads in part: “The U.S. Secretary of Treasury receives no compensation for representing the United States?’”

The final portion of the speech:

“Unwittingly, America has returned to its pre-American Revolution, feudal roots whereby all land is held by a sovereign and the common people had no rights to hold allodial title to property. Once again, We the People are the tenants and sharecroppers renting our own property from a Sovereign in the guise of the Federal Reserve Bank. We the people have exchanged one master for another.

“This has been going on for over eighty years without the “informed knowledge” of the American people, without a voice protesting loud enough. Now it’s easy to grasp why America is fundamentally bankrupt.

“Why don’t more people own their properties outright?

“Why are 90% of Americans mortgaged to the hilt and have little or no assets after all debts and liabilities have been paid? Why does it feel like you are working harder and harder and getting less and less?

“We are reaping what has been sown, and the results of our harvest is a painful bankruptcy, and a foreclosure on American property, precious liberties, and a way of life. Few of our elected representatives in Washington, D.C. have dared to tell the truth. The federal United States is bankrupt. Our children will inherit this unpayable debt, and the tyranny to enforce paying it.

“America has become completely bankrupt in world leadership, financial credit and its reputation for courage, vision and human rights. This is an undeclared economic war, bankruptcy, and economic slavery of the most corrupt order! Wake up America! Take back your Country.’”

Read the whole speech here.

Comment: Say what you will about Traficant, but he spells out tyranny as clear as Ron Paul and those last portions are ringing true today.

This speech is truly prolific and one I urge you to read. Traficant saw the tyrannical nature of the international banking system and how it thwarts our sovereignty and freedom. The speech provides a wealth of information.

It would be great if Traficant took to the road enlightening America when he gets out of prison. I know I would certainly support the guy.

The Federal Reserve is a Private Institution

HT: Mike P. from Repeal the 17th Amendment Discussion Board

The weblog moderateobserver|dotcom has posted excerpts from the court case Lewis v. United States, 680 F.2d 1239 (1982), proving the Federal Reserve’s actual status. From the court case records one can clearly see that the Federal Reserve is an independent, privately owned corporation, and not a federal agency.

Read the whole posting here.

Comment: Folks need to awaken to the reality that the Federal Reserve’s operation is not to look out for the American people, but rather the interests of the financial institutions they represent and make money for those banks.

We rail about the high cost of gasoline, but through environmental regulations placed upon the oil industry such as where a company can drill, to how much and what kind of gas they must refine the U.S Government (USG) actually has more authority over the energy industry than it does over the printing of money in this country. Isn’t it bizarre, the USG controls almost all of the energy sector, but lets private banks control our monetary system?

Rep. Ron Paul Questions Bernanke Over New Fed Reserve Move

Rep. Ron Paul asks the non-Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke whether the business cycle is the result of economic freedom or government intrusion, ergo, the Federal Reserve. Rep. Paul’s introduction is a lesson in itself.

Comment: There are only a handful of representatives in Congress that have our nation’s well being in mind and Ron Paul is one of them.

This move by the Bush Administration to increase the power of the non-governmental body called the Federal Reserve is a huge step toward corporatism or socialism. This move is nothing short of Soviet era central planning. What the hell has happened to this country when the majority of Republicans don’t realize this? Thank you Bush Family.
