Call Senator Bill Harris and Demand Voinovich Answer to Ohio

Call or write to the President of the Ohio Senate, Senator Bill Harris, and demand that he subpoena Ohio U.S. Senator George Voinovich to appear before the Ohio Senate and explain to the State of Ohio why he has absolutely no knowledge about the laws he is enacting, his total disregard for the security of Ohio and the United States, and the rule of law.

It is within the purview of the Ohio Senate to require Senator Voinovich to appear before that chamber since each U.S Senator is the representative of the State of Ohio. While U.S. Senators are elected by the citizenry, they are the State’s representative in the U.S. Congress, and fully accountable to the State of Ohio.

It is incumbent that before the U.S. Senate moves any further down the road of giving amnesty to over 12 million illegal aliens our State has the opportunity address the myriad of issue confronting our state and nation. The only way that this issue will be fully addressed is for our U.S. Senators to appear before the Ohio Senate and explain the bill in its entirety. Likewise I call for Senator Harris to subpoena U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown before the Ohio Senate and explain the same.

This issue is the most tantamount issue facing our country and will have a massive impact on every level of government. It is too important to be hastily fashioned behind closed doors in the U.S Senate. It must be exposed to the light of day, and the light of day is the Ohio Senate. Please call or write Senator Harris today.

Civil Liberties During War-Time Part 4 of 4

HT: Jim Fedako, Anti-Positivist

This is a four part video of Judge Andrew Napolitano speaking before the Future of Freedom Foundation concerning civil liberties during war-time. Being a great fan of the Judge I was eager to watch it immediately when I came across it at the weblog Anti-Positivist. Moreover, after watching it I was more alarmed about our eroding freedoms than ever.

Judge Napolitano’s comments are very blunt regarding the violations various Congresses and Presidents have committed, but with greater emphasis placed upon the Congresses post 9/11 and the Bush Administration.

If you consider yourself Conservative or Republican you really need to watch this because while we may think our politicians that we are aligned with are looking out for our freedoms, they are in actuality selling us down the river. If you are a Democrat, you really need to watch this video because believe it or not all of these violations are being worked with congressional democrats in the back rooms and basements of Congress.

Alabama Not Waiting On Illegal Solution; Ready to Lead on Its Own

API recommendation passes Alabama Legislature; By Alabama Policy Institute (API); June 12, 2007.

BIRMINGHAM, AL: A key recommendation by the Alabama Policy Institute (API) to address illegal immigration in Alabama passed on the final day of the 2007 regular session.

Senate Joint Resolution 22 convenes the Joint Interim Patriotic Immigration Commission to conduct a fact-finding study on immigration issues and will recommend a series of specific legislative and executive branch actions to address the influx of illegal immigrants in Alabama. The Commission is expected to issue its report by the beginning of the next legislative session in 2008.

"We commend Senator Scott Beason (R-Gardendale) for his absolute commitment to get this bill passed," said Michael Ciamarra, vice president of API and author of the legislation. "We knew a scatter-shot approach of introducing bills here and there with no coherent plan was doomed to fail. We believe the commission approach is inclusive of all stakeholders and can develop thoughtful, clear proposals that all can agree on before the next legislative session begins."

API's recent paper "Proposal to Bring Clarity and A Way Forward to Address Immigration in Alabama" recommended a commission to make sure the right questions are asked, to determine what can work legally, and to promote a logical set of solutions that will result in a rational state immigration policy acceptable to Alabamians.

"Due to deep divisions about amnesty and other provisions of a White House-backed bill, the U.S. Senate failed to address illegal immigration. It is imperative that states come forth with proposals that work and are Constitutional," said Ciamarra. Ciamarra and Senator Beason believe that the Alabama Patriotic Immigration Commission will be a model other states will follow.

Comment: Without going into Alabama’s plan to address the illegal immigration problem, the point I want to stress is that Alabama is not waiting for the national government to act. Ohio lawmakers should take notice and begin to hold hearings to address our problem and how best to advance a solution. Likewise, by opening hearings on this issue will bring more attention on the debacle and double-dealings taking place behind the scenes in DC. Our state legislators need to hold our federal representatives in Congress, especially our two Senators, accountable for their votes and tact they are taking concerning illegal immigration.

Rather than getting into some behind the scenes pact with Bush, Voinovich and Brown should be protecting Ohio’s interest. And this is problem; our Senators don’t pay attention to the interests of our states; they look out for their own self interest and the interests of the specials interest groups pulling the strings and funding their re-elections. So if our state general assembly wants to do something truly statesman-like they should begin to address the illegal immigration situation before it’s too late; because if Bush and Kennedy have their way, this country is screwed. We need to start thinking Ohio first.

Pullins: Immigration Bill Has National ID Requirement

The Pullins Report: Immigration Bill Has National ID Requirement; 7 June 2007.

Folks, Scott Pullins has an urgent posting today detailing the Senates slight-of-hand measure to include a REAL-ID provision in the Immigration Bill. Check out Scott’s posting.

Comment: First, this immigration bill clearly demonstrates that the oligarchs are unworthy of our trust. The terrifying problem behind every piece of legislation is the hidden measures unrelated to the bill itself. I would urge you and those that read this weblog to consider the repeal of the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. We must restore the balance of power the founding fathers intended when they created our government and return the power of the States. This is no idealistic pipe dream or the ranting of some fanatic; this is necessity our country and state can ill afford to dismiss. Please take the time and look over this weblog. I have posted a number of journal articles that outline the history and consequences of the amendment along the right hand of the page.

Second, ask yourself, if this REAL-ID is so important and needed for domestic security, why is the Senate hiding it in another bill? Why isn’t being debated out in the open. Well the simple and short answer is because it isn’t; it is malice. There is no reason to have a national database of the nation’s personal information kept in a central national repository. This is a recipe for disaster. Anyone in the Cyber and IT community will tell you our storage of data is under assault every minute of the day.

We need to get the Ohio General Assembly acting on both the Immigration Bill and the REAL-ID initiative. These are extremely bad for our country, and if elected oligarchs in Congress aren’t going to do anything about this then it is time our state legislators took action. Call or write your local representative and tell them to start raising concerns about this legislation before it is too late.

Keep the Heat on the Senate!

Folks we need to keep the heat up on our two Senators Voinovich and Brown. We must send them a letter or email and for that matter a telephone call, telling them to vote against S. 1348, “Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007” everyday if possible.

I have taken the example of a letter created by GOPUSA and added a few lines, which is available for use.

I urge you to vote against S. 1348 when it comes to the Senate floor for debate in June.

This poorly conceived immigration bill offers a path to citizenship for millions of people who have broken our laws by entering our country illegally. This is unacceptable to America's citizens.

Please enforce the laws we presently have and strengthen them by increasing funds for the Border Patrol, for the fence and for technology that will secure our borders. Additionally, we should enforce the laws prosecute the companies and individuals that hire illegal aliens. By fully enforcing all of our laws it can be expected that these illegal aliens, will in part, return to there country of origin.

Protect American's citizens and vote down S. 1348.

Remember, keep up the pressure because if we don’t these oligarchs will sell our country out from under us.
